CA Energy Code Cx

(Title 24, Part 6)

California's Energy Code requires commissioning for most nonresidential new construction and major renovations under §120.8. Boynton Commissioning Group serves as your Commissioning Authority (CxA) through every required step — developing the Owner's Project Requirements (OPR), reviewing the Basis of Design (BOD), verifying installation and functional performance of HVAC, lighting controls, service water heating, and renewable systems, confirming operator training, and issuing the final Commissioning Report and Systems Manual. The result is a code-compliant project that performs the way it was designed.

International Energy Conservation Code Cx

(IECC C408)

For projects in jurisdictions that adopt the IECC, Section C408 requires commissioning of mechanical, service water heating, lighting, and electrical systems on most commercial buildings. Boynton Commissioning Group provides the full IECC C408 scope — including the commissioning plan, system testing and balancing verification, functional performance testing, preliminary and final commissioning reports, and the owner's documentation package. Whether your project is a single building or a multi-state portfolio, we deliver consistent, code-current commissioning that satisfies the authority having jurisdiction.

LEED Commissioning (Fundamental & Enhanced)

Commissioning is a prerequisite for every LEED-certified project, and Enhanced Commissioning offers one of the most cost-effective credit paths under LEED v4 and v4.1. We deliver Fundamental Commissioning (EA Prerequisite) for HVAC, lighting and lighting controls, domestic hot water, and renewable energy systems, and we provide Enhanced Commissioning (EA Credit) — including design reviews, a current facilities requirements/operations and maintenance plan, and the optional envelope commissioning scope. Our work follows ASHRAE Guideline 0 and ASHRAE Standard 202, supporting both certification and long-term building performance.

Cx Design Reviews

(CA Title 24)

Title 24 §120.8 requires the CxA to review the project documents independently to confirm the design satisfies the Owner's Project Requirements before construction begins. Boynton Commissioning Group performs structured design reviews at the design development and construction document phases, evaluating mechanical, lighting, controls, and service water heating systems for code compliance, constructability, and operability. Findings are documented in a clear review log so the design team can resolve issues early — when changes cost the least and deliver the most value.

Total Building Cx

(Federal)

Federal projects demand a Whole Building Commissioning approach, and Boynton Commissioning Group delivers it in alignment with ASHRAE Guideline 0, ASHRAE Guideline 1.1, and the requirements of agencies including GSA, USACE, NAVFAC, the VA, and DOE. Our scope covers every commissioned system on the project — HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building envelope, fire and life safety, controls and BAS, security, and specialty systems — from pre-design through occupancy and post-occupancy. We produce the OPR, design reviews, commissioning specifications, submittal reviews, construction checklists, functional performance tests, systems manuals, training verification, and the final Commissioning Report your contracting officer expects.
